“You are always one decision away from a totally different life.” (Anonymous)

This might not always be the most popular opinion, but the truth is that you create your own reality on all the levels. I get it, it is hard to think that way when true challenges show up, but if you start doing the steps backwards you will quickly realize, that on some level, you were always part of creating these circumstances for yourself.

The reason why you tend to hesitate to acknowledge that you do create your reality is probably because the cause and effect relationship is not always immediate and transparent, but insteads tends to be happening over time.

Every single choice you make and decision you take builds your reality. You choose your relationships, your job, the country you live in, the diet you practice, the information you consume, the thoughts you think..

You get it? All of it!

Said all that, let´s make it clear that the same way you contribute to challenging events in your life, you have also the full power to create positive events in your life.

At any given moment you can start over!

At any given moment you can reinvent yourself and transform your life!

At any given moment you can take a different decision and start changing the trajectory of your life.

Dare to bloom.

Dare to become the best version of yourself.

Dare to create a life you love.

Dare to dream and pursue your dreams.

Dare to create abundance and achieve success on your own terms.

Do not feel threatened by seeing somebody else blooming.

Radical and Incremental Change

The only certain thing in life is change. Everything in nature is in constant evolution and transformation. Change is inevitable.

Nevertheless, people sometimes tend to be so resistant towards change. You wait too long to react, to take action and to go for something better for you. You let the fear of stepping out of your comfort zone overpower your true needs, deeper desires and dreams.

And often you wait until the last minute..

While radical change is sometimes necessary and inevitable, especially when triggered by sudden life events (death, serious illness, divorce, loss of job etc), then do not worry, change does not always have to be as fast and extreme.

Anybody having gone through the experience of personal transformation, does know that it is not easy and it is not fast. It takes some time to work through all the layers of your being and to settle into new ways of thinking and doing things. And it is okay.

Incremental change, implementing gradual changes and improvements, is the most sustainable way to go about transforming yourself and your life. Giving yourself time and space guarantees better results.

Habit Tracking (Photo by Prophsee Journals on Unsplash)

As they say, new habit takes at least 66 days to form (to become automatic) — so time, consistency and commitment are needed to create new mental and physical habits and routines.

I have some fresh personal empirical evidence to support that time line!

The last few months I have been settling into a daily yoga practice as part of my own personal transformation. I have a vision of who I want to become, and daily healthy routines are part of it. It took me about two months of daily practice to get to the point that I was cheerfully looking forward to, if not to say, needing to carry out my practice.

(I have never before felt such excitement about exercising. I was always fascinated about people who would consistently show up to do their exercise, and now I get it! Finally, 42 years later, I get it!)

Get to Know Your Why

I do not get tired of inviting you to gain clarity about your WHY. Why do you want what you want? Why is reinventing yourself and your life important to you?

Only when you know your why, you will find your way. Changing yourself is already hard, so knowing and understanding your reasons and what motivates you will be your fuel.

Follow Your Inner Guidance

Start listening to your inner guidance.

You and me, we all have that inner compass that does know the way. Unfortunately we tend to get too busy and distracted, maybe even purposefully, to ignore that inner knowing.

Whenever in doubt, place your hand on your heart, and ask the question. I am pretty sure you know how it feels like when it comes from the heart versus coming from your head (mind).

It is about time to listen.

It is about time to seek ways to connect with that wisdom and to trust it.

It is about time to move forward in alignment with who you are.

It does know the way!

Let Your Vision Fuels Your Change

While one important part of change is to know your WHY, then another important part is to hold your greater VISION.

Who would you like to become and how would you like your life to look like as a result of your transformation journey?

Only by knowing, where you are heading, you can actually end up there!

Unfortunately too many people take too little time to create their life vision, thus they are creating their life spontaneously and reactively on the way. Of course this can also be a fun beautiful journey, but it does not guarantee you get to live everything you dream of.

How do you create a vision?

You simply have to start imagining what would you still like to experience and accomplish in your life. How would living your life to the fullest look like for you? Who would you like to be? What and who can you let go and does not serve you? What and who do you wan to invite into your life?

Is it a house by the sea? Is it starting your own business? Is it about learning another language or travelling around the world? Is it about being able to spend more time with your kids? Is it about finding that love you always knew is meant for you? Maybe you want to sign up for a marathon or a gardening course? How would you like to feel? What kind of energy would you like to carry?

Whatever it is, get into details! Get creative.

Dwell in possibilities!

You have to imagine and believe that what you desire is possible. Once you start practicing different thoughts and imagining different possibilities, you will start creating new neural pathways in your brain. You start believing and working towards it.

Write it all down. Create a vision board or a story to read. Make sure to revisit that vision daily!

And of course, once you do have the vision, it is easy to start creating a plan of action. While you do not have to know how this all comes together, you can start taking one step at a time towards your dreams.

Challenge and Change Your Mindset and Beliefs

Mindset and beliefs are strongly interconnected aspects of human psychology. They both can be changed.

While mindset refers to a set of attitudes, assumptions and mental frameworks that shape how we see and interpret the world, then beliefs are more specific thoughts, convictions and judgements we hold about ourself and the world around us.

In order to reinvent yourself and to transform your life you have to adopt growth mindset. You will be able to change only when you believe that change is possible, failure is part of the learning, and you will be able to grow and develop yourself.

At the same time you are encouraged to challenge your limiting beliefs, which usually show up when you start thinking/taking action towards change. So many beliefs you carry are neither facts nor truth. If you do not challenge these beliefs, you will not be able to create a different kind of reality.

Start by gaining awareness of your mindset and your beliefs. What seems to be stopping you from moving forward?

Challenge these attitudes and beliefs.

The first step towards change of an attitude or a belief is to bring it out to the day light, to talk about it and to find way to reframe it.

Create new beliefs that support you. What could be a better belief instead?

Create new stories that support you.

Practice these stories daily. Practice until they become part of you.

Show Up For Yourself Daily

Every single day you have a brand new opportunity to fully show up for yourself and start moving towards your vision of yourself and your life.

Only you yourself can choose how you show up for yourself.

Only you yourself can set your intention for your day.

Only you yourself can take back your power and to create the life you actually want to live.

And how can you do that?

You have to change your mindset and beliefs. And the rest (your action) will follow!

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” (Dr. Wayne Dyer)

Create Daily Habits to Support Your New Mindset & Beliefs

It is not enough to gain awareness of the limitations of your mindset and beliefs, it is important to take ongoing action towards creating new ways of thinking and doing things.

  1. Reframe your limiting beliefs — challenge them in the moment of showing up. Replace them by positive affirmations of new beliefs.
  2. Catch your negative thoughts and replace them by positive empowering thoughts (watch out for ANTs — automatic negative thoughts)
  3. Speak of what you want and not of what you do not want (where attention goes there energy flows and it grows!)
  4. Boost your confidence and self-belief (it is a habit!)
  5. Take good care of yourself — find ways to rise your vibe!
  6. Surround yourself with people, books, environment etc that nurture and inspire you, and of course support your dreams.. (At the same time avoid environments — people — information that brings you down!)
  7. Hunt for joy and celebrate your successes!
  8. Be grateful for everything you have and everything you want to achieve as if it was already here. Gratitude is powerful.
  9. Start embodying the new version of you, one step at a time, until you are her (shorten the gap!) How would that YOU think? How would that YOU act? What are the guiding values of that future YOU?
Morning Routine (Photo by Carli Jeen on Unsplash)

Create yourself a morning/evening (whatever time is good for you) routine or a ritual. Journalling, meditation, moving your body are all ways to connect with your vision, with your inner knowing, with your future self — with your dreams.

Take Intentional Inspired Action

Once the mindset piece is taken care of, you are prepared to take intentional and inspired action towards your goals and dreams.

Just sitting and journalling will not change your life. Living in your head will not change your life (trust me, this one I have tried a lot!)!

Showing up daily as your best self to take steps towards your dreams will!

And if you keep going day after day, yourself and your life will be transformed before you notice. Your present and your future start blending and sooner than you know, you will be there.

I believe in YOU. Now is time for YOU to believe in YOU too!
