Navigating Loneliness as an Entrepreneur

Once upon a time..

.. there was a female entrepreneur. She was passionate. She was smart. She was hard-working. She was a dreamer. And at times she was also lonely.

I don’t know for a fact if this is the story of all entrepreneurs, but from my 15 years of personal experience in entrepreneurship, I do know that occasional loneliness is part of the journey. I’m not talking about big corporations here, but rather solopreneurs or small business owners — those passionate souls who are closely connected with their businesses day by day.

Understanding the Loneliness That Comes with Entrepreneurship

According to the Wordmetrics.org Entrepreneur Burnout Report of 2024 I am not alone in my experience of entrepreneurial loneliness.

  • 46% of entrepreneurs struggle with feelings of isolation and loneliness.
  • 31% of entrepreneurs experience burnout due to lack of support from friends and family.
  • 39% of entrepreneurs feel like they have no one to talk to about their stress.

Entrepreneurship is a true rollercoaster. The ups and downs come and go, and while you develop wisdom and resilience over time and learn to ride these waves with confidence, the people around you might not…
